Holistic Colon Hydrotherapy

Holistic colon hydrotherapyColon cleansing was mentioned in Babylonian and Assyrian cuneiform inscriptions as early as 600 BC.
The ancient Greek physicians used water, with or without salt, and honey and oils.
Avicenna, (980-1036) the famed Persian physician and Albucasis of Cordoba, (936?-1013) both developed an actual syringe and during the Renaissance this was improved and adapted for self-use.
It was in 1600 AD that Pare offered the first distinction between colonic hydrotherapy (otherwise known as irrigation) and enemas.
Since then they have been heralded as a valuable treatment by eminent physicians such as Dr John Kellogg (1800) and Dr Norman Walker (1900).

How does it work?

Colonics or Colon Hydrotherapy is generally the cleansing of the large intestine with water. I like to call it bathing as it implies a much nicer and gentler procedure.

The closed system
Client lies on massage table.
The practitioner inserts Speculum the size of a finger.
A steady stream of water (gravity-fed) then flows either in and out of the colon, regulated by the practitioner.
The practitioner controls the water flow at all times.
The client does not need to push or hold any water.
The practitioner constantly monitors the process while massaging the tummy and possibly acupressure points on the hand and feet.
The practitioner explains everything that is passing by through the viewing tube.
There is no smell or mess during or after the session as all waste goes through the pipe into the sewer system.
Approximately 60 litres of water are used in approximately one hour

The open system: also called LIBBE (Lower intestinal bottom bowel evacuation)
Client lies on a molded fiberglass table that looks like a recliner. The form-fitted table has a toilet like basin cut into it & a small, disposable rectal tube, about the size of a pencil is attached at one end.
The practitioner demonstrates to the client how to insert the tube and leaves the room.
The client inserts the tube himself and covers himself up.
The therapist returns when the client is ready & demonstrates how to operate the water system.
Water simply flows through the small rectal tube into the client.
When the client feels full, they simply push & the rectal tube automatically moves to one side within the rectum allowing the softened matter to flow out.
It then flows down a drain in the bottom of the basin & past a three inch clear viewing tube.
The therapists usually leave the client after a short time for the rest of the session to operate the system themselves.
The client can see the waste passing by through a observation tube.
If an odor exhaust system is installed it ensures the room remains odor free.
At the end of the session the client can clean themselves up and get dressed.
Sessions are usually 45 minutes

Benefits of Colonics

Same as enema, but because it uses more water it can flush out much more hence all benefits of a normal enema are multiplied. Some other benefits are:
It removes deep seated Waste materials, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time, (i.e. impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, worms, etc.) stopping these poisons from circulating back in the blood stream.

Impacted materials also impairs the colon's ability to assimilate minerals and vitamins and produce beneficial bacteria. A build-up of material on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, constipation, and the result of these disorders.
Once impacted material is removed, your colon can begin again to co-operate as it was intended to. In this sense a Colonic is a rejuvenation treatment.

It exercises the colon muscles: The build-up of toxic debris weakens the colon and impairs its functioning. The gentle filling and emptying of the colon improves peristaltic (muscular contraction) activity by which the colon naturally moves material.

It reshapes the colon: When problem conditions exist in the colon, they tend to alter its shape, which in turn causes more problems. The gentle action of the water, coupled with massaging the colon helps to eliminate bulging pockets of waste and narrowed, spastic constrictions finally enabling the colon to resume its natural state.

It stimulates reflex points: Every system and organ of the body is connected to the colon by reflex points. Colonics stimulate these points, thereby affecting the corresponding body parts in a beneficial way.
It can help to release old emotions that are stored in our 'gut'

Enema Implants

Implants are a great way to nurture the body after an enema with various specialized liquids/teas/oils. EG. Probiotic liquid.
Depending on what you want to achieve they can be refreshing, stimulating, calming, cleansing etc.
They are also great if you can't take food/supplements orally because they make you nausea or if you can't take food because of injury (rectal feeding).
An implant is about 50 ml of liquid which stays in overnight and is absorbed by the colon to nurture the body.
You can also do a retaining enema (hold 450 ml) which stays in for up to 45 minutes, in this time some of it will be absorbed.

P.S. If you have any doubts about the self-healing power of your body, consult your naturopath or health practitioner for advice!
